Drama Performance Section – Specific Rules

Please read the Specific Rules for the Drama Performance Section of the International Creation & Performance Contest. This section is introduced for the first time in our online contests. We hope you like it and it challenges you.

A – Monologue / poetry recitation

B – Sketch / skit

C – Pantomime

TARGET GROUPS for Drama Performance Section:

The Dramatic Interpretation Section of the International Creation and Interpretation Competition is addressed to young people and adults with concerns in the field of theater, as follows:

Group I – individual competitors / troupes with members under the age of 14

Group II – individual competitors / troupes with members aged between 14 and 18 years

Group III – individual competitors / troupes with members aged between 19 and 25 years

Group IV – individual competitors / troupes with members older than 26 years

The term individual competitors refers to those competitors who choose to give a monologue or recite a poem.

The term troupes refers to groups of competitors who choose to present a sketch or a skit.

THEME OF THE CONTEST:

a) The contest does not have a given theme, this being at the choice of the participants. It is recommended that the ideation of the performed plays subscribe to a well-known dramatic register (present in Romanian and universal literature), and that the poems be from the Romantic era.

b) Each competitor / troupe will send the recording of a monologue / sketch or skit.

The monologue / recitation of a poem presented in the contest will have a maximum duration of 5 minutes.

Troupes of 2-5 members will present a dramatic moment lasting a maximum of 10 minutes.

Troupes of 6-12 members will present a dramatic moment lasting a maximum of 15 minutes.

The Dramatic Interpretation Section of the International Creation and Interpretation Competition takes place in 3 categories, each with the 4 target groups, according to the table:

TECHNICAL DETAILS:

The video can be sent as a link to YouTube, where it was previously posted as unlisted, or as a file via WeTransfer (or similar platforms). Videos streamed via WeTransfer or similar platforms must be in .avi .wmv .mov or .mp4 format. The filming will be live, in landscape format, unedited (in one piece). The recording must have the best quality and resolution, made without disturbances, background noises, etc. The device must be positioned so that the body of the performer, gestures, etc. are visible.

Audio-video montages are not supported. 4K format is not supported.

JURY CRITERIA for the Dramatic Interpretation Section:

  • Creativity / originality;
  • The natural rhythm of action and dialogue;
  • Optimal use of stage space;
  • Convincing interpretation of the characters;
  • The ingenuity of capitalizing on resources: costumes, props;
  • The suggestiveness of the décor (space-time effect);
  • The impact of the message sent, its instructive-educational value.
