Studies

Arthur Popescu made his debut in the World of Music at the age of five. Then, he won the Contest „Cyprus has Talent” vocal and guitar.

At the age of 15, Arthur discovered his passion for the double bass and began studying music on his home island Cyprus.

His acceptance into the Cypriot Youth Symphony Orchestra led to collaborations with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra as part of the RCSO Meets Europe program.
Arthur Popescu completed his Bachelor and Master Orchestra studies at the Haute École de Musique with Prof. Petru Iuga in Lausanne. The double bassist accomplished his Praktikum at the Tonhalle Orchester Zurich. He is now studying his second Master at the FHNW Basel. This is under the guidance of the famous Prof. Dr. Roman Patkolo.

Artistic activity

Arthur participates in festivals like the Biarritz International Bass Academy, Arcada Festival Braga, Paléo Festival Nyon, and Musik Festival Radebeul. He appreciates the collaborative spirit that ensemble playing brings with it.

He has performed with the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck. He also played with the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne.

Most recently, he was a soloist of MingClassics String ensemble. He arranged the music for orchestra himself.

Arthur is currently playing with Zuger Kammerensemble. He is also performing with the Sinfonia Engiadina. Both ensembles are composed of the most reputable musicians from famous orchestras in Switzerland.
He has a lot of dedication and passion for music, which he developed from a young age.

Prizes

He has won first prizes in the national round of the Worldvision Music Contest. He also won awards at the Concours international «Édouard Nanny» and the Grand Prix at the Festival 4 Arts Romania.

Further endeavors

Arthur Popescu is committed to pursuing a teaching career. He has already accumulated a vast professional and spiritual experience in double bass and classical music. This is a richness that he enjoys sharing with young enthusiast double bassists.
