Dog Teeth

I don’t know if I love you anymore,
But if it hurts, I’ll hold you until my arms are sore.
I want to prove to you that, maybe, I deserve more,
But what do I truly deserve when my teeth are tearing at your flesh?

The mouth that was supposed to kiss you is ripping you to shreds,
But I promise I love you, and I’ll love you beyond death,
And when you bleed, I’ll weep and I’ll tend to your wounds,
I’ll tell you the sweetest words I know until your eyes fall shut.

You look at me like you always do, with stars shining in your eyes
If I look closely, I can see how your soul lies.
In this dim light I feel like I can see you how nobody else does,
I never meant to hurt you but I’ll always find a way to.

Home

It’s been a while,
You know how we used to watch the sky full of stars at night?
And you used to tell me I was prettier than all of them.
Now I can’t even look up at them anymore
I’m scared I won’t see you there, watching over me.

I wish I’d been the first one to go
But I know it’s so selfish of me to think this way.
I wish you didn’t have to leave,
I wish we’d spent the rest of our lives together, not a whole universe apart.
I hope you’ve achieved your dream of seeing the moon up close.

But I’ll find you, I promise I will,
I can’t bear thinking I won’t.
I don’t want a heaven without you.
You’re my forever, even now
You’re still my home.

And we’ll spend our afterlives together,
Conquering the stars we used to watch from afar
You’ll fly me over each of them,
Tell me how much you’ve waited for me to come,
And how much you wished you had stayed a little longer.

June

June is coming way too late,
Her eyes are slowly turning green.
There’s a full moon and it’s dripping blood,
June is turning into a god.
I’ll blame her for the claw marks on my arms
And with honey eyes she will agree.
A kind hearted deity with her body on fire,
June is turning into a liar.
She will try to run as far as she can,
Believing she deserves more,
She will try to fly off into the sun,
But she’ll plummet right next to me.
