NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL STUDIES AND AWARDS

Prof. Univ. Dr. Corina Ibănescu – piano & accompaniment, born in Brașov in a family of intellectuals (father doctor, mother teacher), great lovers of arts, studied piano at the School of Music in her hometown with professors Cornelia Orban, Horia Cristian and Gabriela Popescu. She continued her piano studies at the “George Enescu” Music Colleage in Bucharest with the famous teacher Ludmila Popișteanu and studied at the “Mozarteum” Academy in Salzburg with the famous pianist and conductor Carlo Zecchi. She has a degree – with 10 – from the “Ciprian Porumbescu” Conservatory of Music in Bucharest (piano specialization, class of Prof. Dr. Sandu Sandrin).

Corina Ibănescu is the winner of international and national competitions: Senigallia – Italy, 1982 (4th prize), Cittá di Catanzarro -Italy, 1984 (2nd prize), 1980 National Olympics (1st prize).

CONCERT ACTIVITY

Corina Ibănescu was invited to play with the symphonic orchestras from Braşov, Oradea, Craiova, Târgu-Mureş, Ploiești, Botoșani. She carries out a rich concert activity in the chamber music field, in the country and abroad. She has given over 180 recitals on stages in Romania, Austria, England, Cyprus, Italy, the Czech Republic, Portugal and has given concert tours in Germany, where she has given 130 recitals as a member of the chamber ensemble (dixtuor) “Gh. Dima” of the Brașov Philharmonic. She collaborated as a pianist with the violinist Florin Ionescu–Galaţi, the mezzo-soprano Ruxandra Donose, the cellist Anton Niculescu and others.

PEDAGOGICAL ACTIVITY

In addition to attending the concert podium, Corina Ibănescu also carries out a valuable pedagogical activity as a University Professor PhD at the piano department of the Faculty of Music, „Transylvania” University of Brașov and associate professor at the „Tudor Ciortea” High School of Music in the same city, her students obtaining in the last 30 years, 300 national and international awards. Eminent pedagogue, pupils and students under her guidance were admitted by competition to prestigious universities in Europe and the USA: Ioan-Dragoș Dimitriu, Adriana Paler, Mihaela Manea at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts (Vienna), Alexandra Ducariu at the Conservatory of Milan, Sorin Rainer Cioinaru at the Academy of Music in Trőssingen, Ioana Miinea at the University of Chicago.

Corina Ibănescu manages to harmoniously combine the pedagogical career with the concert one, a fact also noticed by the specialized critics: “under the interpreter’s hands, the sublime simplicity of the themes and the brilliant clarity of the passages (Mozartian) could transcend, from a flawless technique offered the public the chance to penetrate the very soul of this music. Corina Ibănescu has given piano training courses and piano workshops in the country and abroad. Prof. Univ. Dr. Corina Ibănescu was invited to the juries of national and international piano and accompaniment competitions in Brașov, Sibiu, Bacău, Bucharest, Piatra Neamt, Târgoviște, Iași, Suceava, Arad, Deva, Râmnicu Vâlcea, etc. In recognition of her interpretive and pedagogical performances, she was awarded numerous diplomas of excellence from Radio Romania Muzical, the “Remember Enescu” Foundation, the Foundation for Culture and Heritage Forum Arts, Brașov City Hall, etc.
