THEME of the 7th International Visual Arts Competition:

The theme of the International Visual Arts Competition is “Interior–Exterior. Between Worlds” — a visual dialogue between spaces, identities and boundaries. We are waiting for your graphic, painting and sculpture works inspired by this theme.

The proposed theme invites reflection on how the interior and exterior influence each other, as spaces of transformation — be they physical, emotional or symbolic. The works can synthesize contrasts, transitions, cracks or creative connections between these worlds.

The interior can mean emotion, memory, identity, hidden structure, personal universe.

The exterior can be body, architecture, nature, society, appearance, visible form.

Where does one begin and where does the other end?

Is there a clear border or just a permeable threshold?

The works can approach the theme symbolically, metaphorically, realistically or abstractly, emphasizing:

  • contrast and complementarity;
  • boundaries, cracks, transparencies;
  • the relationship between essence and appearance;
  • space as volume and structure (in the case of sculpture);
  • the dialogue between the interior plan and the exterior form.

The theme invites participants to explore the relationship between interior and exterior space. This relationship can be interpreted both in a concrete, architectural or landscape sense, and in a symbolic or emotional sense.

Participants can represent interiors that communicate with the exterior, windows and doors that create connections between spaces, interior courtyards, gardens, facades seen from the inside or exterior views captured from an enclosed space. The theme can also be approached metaphorically, suggesting the relationship between the individual’s inner world and the external environment, between intimacy and exposure, protection and openness.

Through this theme, we encourage the exploration of contrasts and dialogue between light and shadow, interior and landscape, detail and ensemble, but also the experimentation of different ways of rendering the transition between two apparently separate worlds.

Send us the clearest picture of the work to be judged. We look forward to seeing your work!
